Wake up !

In 1996, Papa Wemba and Koffi Olomidé, two of the most famous african artists all time decided to advocate for reconciliation in an album called “Wake up“. At the end of the song, invested in their mission, the congolese singers started enumerating the capitals of the continent, telling them to wake up. Nobody could then foresee the effect this song would take in our lives.

Indeed, 20 years later, having learned the lesson of our elders, we will try to patch up the african diaspora scattered across the world, as we scroll through the pages of this new magazine that is the Afropolitain.

We appeal to this generation, infused of influences of the various host countries but who never denied their roots. From Serge Ibaka to Blitz the Ambassador through Noella Coursaris without forgetting Keziah Makoundou, all at one time cry in the face of the whole world their unwavering commitment to the continent. Our goal as Afropolitain is to synchronise these influences harvested from struggles of migration streams inside which our origins echo via different vectors such as art, gastronomy, music, design, business… The Afropolitain magazine aims to highlight these people, their lives, their habits, their joys and sorrows. Their peculiar journey makes them unique in our eyes.

Whether it striving or is already accomplished, the black diaspora wherever it is, now possesses its own voice called the “Afropolitain.
