Prince “The Symbol”

“I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain
I only wanted to one time to see you laughing
I only wanted to see you
Laughing in the purple rain”

This is how the worldwide song known as “Purple Rain” starts. But today, the Love Symbol has left us for a better world. What a pain for his fans.

As a fan, I always loved the artist, the man, the performer, the producer and the symbol he was, is, and will be for generations.
As a fan, I used to love to argue with Michael Jackson’s fans about “Who is the best singer, performer or dancer?” (joy that actually left me when this other icon left us.)
As a fan, I used to hope for a new album, and when that album was out, and I was listening to it, I was, secretly, always dreaming about an endless album.
As a fan, I even used to think that Prince was like his music, “Immortal”.

Prince “The Symbol”

But today, reality has knocked at my door and, I realized that Prince was “… one of the most gifted and prolific musicians of our time, Prince did it all. Funk. R&B. Rock and roll. He was a virtuoso instrumentalist, a brilliant bandleader and an electrifying performer“, as U.S. President Barack Obama said in a statement.

“A strong spirit transcends rules,” Prince once said — and nobody’s spirit was stronger, bolder, or more creative, as we feel intensely in “When Doves Cry” when he writes:

“Dream if you can a courtyard
An ocean of Violets in bloom
Animals strike curious poses
They feel the heat
The heat between me and you”

We will miss you, Prince, not only your fans, but also Music, art, and your haters (if they do exist).
